THE CATALYST

For a project, practice, passage, or pivot that needs more than one good conversation. Three months gives us enough time to find the question underneath the question, follow what emerges, and turn insight into movement. Sometimes you arrive knowing exactly what you’re building toward. Sometimes finding the shape of it is the work.

Coaching, at its best, is a space where you can finally say the thing you’ve been thinking alone.

We start with what’s present and follow what’s alive. The project that won’t leave you alone. The career that no longer fits. The longing underneath the productivity. The idea you can feel but can’t yet see.

We locate the question underneath the question, then work with it—through conversation, inquiry, mapping, play, chance, and design.

You bring what’s unresolved. We give it somewhere to go.

Over three months, you may find yourself:

• clearer on what actually matters—not what should matter
• trusting your own read instead of continually outsourcing the decision
• making the thing instead of endlessly thinking about making it
• taking up more space in your work and your life
• building structures that fit the way you actually work

HOW WE MIGHT WORK

INQUIRY
We stay with the question long enough for the obvious answers to run out.

PLAY
Try it. Look at it. Try it again. Nothing needs to be right the first time.

CHANCE
Dice, cards, prompts, constraints—ways of interrupting the answer you already know how to give.

MAPPING
Get it out of your head. Put it on the wall. Step back. Read for pattern.

MINDFULNESS
Sometimes thinking harder isn’t the move. We return attention to the body and see what changes.

DESIGN
Edit. Sequence. Shape. Give what’s true enough form to be seen—and acted on.

WHY THREE MONTHS?

One conversation can change what you see. Three months gives us time to change what you do with it. It’s long enough to find the question underneath the question, experiment, make decisions, and see what actually holds.

NASCENT SPIRAL is a crawlspace¹ for inquiry² and chance operations³ in service of creative becoming⁴ and beginning again⁵ (and again)(…)⁶

  1. crawlspace / a habitable in-between; neither basement nor foundation; low ceilings on purpose; you don't stand up straight here; see also: threshold; a playfort

  2. inquiry / not research; not problem-solving; the practice of wanting the question as much as the answer; not knowing as method; to let it live in you awhile

  3. chance operations / the art of creative interference; a roll of the dice; play as a legitimate method; the work that happens when you stop being the only one in charge

  4. creative becoming / ongoing; non-linear; already in progress before you named it; fill in the blank: i am ____

  5. beginning again / see also: Shoshin (初心): A Zen term meaning “beginner’s mind,” emphasizing an attitude of eagerness and lack of preconceptions

  6. (and again)(...) / the return is the practice; beginning is always happening; every version a prototype; every prototype a beginning
